Connecticut has a ton to offer in the world of metal music, especially with the amount of local bands that can be discovered at The Webster Underground opening up for some massive hits.
Here’s a list of what I believe the top 3 local bands are around Connecticut some more popular than others but all based off of what bands have the best content produced.
2. In Honor Of
In Honor Of is another local band based out of Wallingford that provides some of the best live metal you can see around New England. Heavy vocalist Dan Smallacombe packs quite the punch with his lyrics providing the perfect sense of meaning and complete and utter chaos without putting too much of each for it to stay perfectly metal. Clean vocalist Joe DiPalma can almost sing you to sleep with one of the best clean sounds in all of New England. These guys will crush your eardrums all while singing some tunes that will be stuck in your head for months. In Honor Of has their EP “Iron Giant” that is available now on Bandcamp along with a streamable listening option that provides you with some of the best seven songs you will swear you have ever heard. In Honor Of also just put out a single titled ‘The Pressure’ which is available for purchase right now on iTunes along with their fan favorite single titled ‘Ignorance’ that will make you want to break something. In Honor Of is a band you will look up once and listen to on repeat time and time again with serious potential.
Values is a melodic hardcore/metal band from Enfield that provides a perfect amount of pummeling guitar riffs and mind juggling vocals. Vocalist Michael May drops his lows like no other metal vocalist around, surprisingly enough these men only have 766 fans according to their Facebook page, they’ve performed at The Webster Underground and other venues all around Connecticut. Values has their EP “Violence” available for purchase now on Bandcamp along with a streamable listening option. Values is worth the time to look up, I promise none of you will regret it.
I hope to see all of you metalheads at some local shows sooner than later, you can always tweet at me (@DragonEmojis) with your thoughts and opinions on the artists that I have thrown into this article. Stay Metal!
