Shadow of Intent - Primordial Rating: 8.3/10 Buy Now Favorite Track: “The Invoking of the Execution of Worlds” New England symphonic deathcore group Shadow of Intent released their new album Primordial, January 10th through iTunes and Bandcamp. I refused to listen to any of the singles that they dropped from the album over the months leading up to the album release, so vocalist Ben Duerr’s pitch perfect lows and fantastic highs weren’t the only pleasant surprise I encountered going in. Primordial not only feeds my high-tempo deathcore fix until Infant Annihilator releases what they’ve been teasing for us since 2015, but even features ex-Infant Annihilator vocalist Dan Watson on “The Cosmic Inquisitor,” track four of ten. Guitarist Chris Wiseman, better known for his work with Currents, shapes the album’s huge, crushing atmosphere with riff after crushing riff, somehow managing not to overshadow the rest of the band as they blast away around him. Primordial is pure joy from start to finish, and I am extremely happy to see where the band will go next. If you think it’s high time you got torn a new one, check this out by any means necessary. Even your grandmother would hate to miss out on this one. - Dakota G.
