Deadpool
8.7/10 In Theaters Now RED BAND TRAILER Deadpool is the superhero movie for kids in their late teens, the dark humor to the gritty and gory fight scenes are certainly not your average Marvel movie. Deadpool was advertised as a romantic superhero flick for both men and women since it was released on today, February 12th or as some people call it Valentine’s Day weekend. I went into the theater expecting a lot of terribly dark jokes that some would find bitter and a lot of kickass violence that you would find from a normal superhero movie and I left the theater with the biggest smile on my face. Deadpool marked in 12.7 million dollars last night at the theaters, which broke a record for an R rated film, and I can say for sure that I’m not surprised. Parents across the globe tried to fight the R rating so their children could go see the film and not be judged or looked at as bad parents, altogether if the rating on the movie had changed there probably would of been less than 30 minutes of footage. Superhero movies have always been up there, christ even The Avengers was rated PG-13 for the violence. Deadpool has never been your average superhero and for that I can say I am thankful for the other parents across the globe that kept their kids inside last night and realized that Deadpool is not the superhero for them. I’m patiently waiting for the comments on why this didn’t get a better score, even though an 8.7 is already pretty stellar, well I’m trying to avoid all spoilers so I’m going to keep why pretty vague but give my reasoning. I went in expecting a lot of the character in present time, the backstory to the film and the character felt like it was kinda dragging and you wanted to get back to the present time soon or you would get bored, maybe even start to doze off. With that being said though, they didn’t leave out anything on how Wade Wilson was transformed into Deadpool. Besides the back story, everything else was like a chimichanga filled with fun. I promise that anyone going to see this movie with a twisted sense of humor will enjoy it, and if you’re reading this wondering if you should bring your kids, leave them at home and save yourself from a lot of explaining on what certain things are when you get home. - Dakota G.
